About me

Hi, hey, hello!

Thanks for visiting my website, I’m so very stoked to have you here. My name is Ellie, I’m a 26-year-old music and pop-culture writer/editor based in Naarm/Melbourne.

I’m currently working full-time as the Commercial Editorial Manager at SGC Media, doing some really cool bits and bobs across The Music, Purple Sneakers, Kill Your Stereo and Countrytown. My work has also been published in global flagship publications like NME and Guitar World, as well as Australian staples like Junkee, BLUNT, Australian Guitar (where I worked as Editor In Chief for a couple years) and Mixdown, plus all manner of independent zines and blogs.

Outside the journo beat, I’ve written PR materials for Cult Logic, as well as in-house/production copy for iconic record labels like UNFD, Domestic La La and Cooking Vinyl.

As a writer, I’m passionate about exploring the ways creativity is informed by identity: I’m devoted to amplifying the voices of queer and trans artists, destigmatising mental illness, fighting for social justice, and mining from the philosophical and spiritual sides of art. My own musical tastes sway closest to emo (all waves), alternative and pop-rock, but I’m just as big a fiend for dubstep, country, hyperpop, indie… My ears know no bounds.

When I’m not writing, you can find me fawning over vinyl records, enamel pins and plushies (shoutout to Blåhaj, the most iconic trans ally), snuggling up to my dog or getting way too hyped over the latest MCU movie/show.

I am not currently open for commissions, however this may change in the future!

Also, while you’re here, please consider donating to my ✨transition fund ✨

Thanks again for stopping by! Take care of yourself!
