About me

Hi, my name is Ellie – I like dogs and music. When I’m not petting the former, I’m writing (or editing other writers’ works) about the latter.

I’m currently holding down the fort at Australian Guitar Magazine as its newest editor, after a storied three-and-a-half years of writing, proofreading and general shit-kicking under the guidence of the legendary Lachlan Marks. Head to the Guitar World website for more about that whole thing.

I also recently joined the Australian newsroom over at NME, which has been a total dream come true. My primary beat is local music news, but I cover a little bit of everything. I post roundups of all the news I report on every week (or so), but you can also check out my local and global author pages to see everything in neat lil’ collections.

When I’m not bouncing between AG and NME, I’m freelancing as a writer and editor for all things music, arts, culture and… Well, anything, really. So far in 2021, I’ve had the pleasure of working with UNFD on the podcast for their 10-year-anniversary vinyl reissue series, and I’ve had a handful of editorials go up on Blunt.

I’m open for commissions on bios, copywriting and editing services (from general proofreading to more advanced, in-depth tinkering and restructuring), and yes, I’m very keen to write for your website! I can wrangle everything from simple Q&As to mammoth feature articles, essays and reviews of all kinds. I’m working on a portfolio page for this site at the moment, but in the meantime, if you’d like to see some content samples, you can hit up my Linktree.

Keen to hit me up for some writing work (or send hate mail)? Get in touch!

PS. My header photo was taken by the one and only Pat O’Hara. Love that dude.
